My good friend and hunting buddy Mark Ebeling is back from a year in Afghanistan and we are both getting anxious for the early goose season.   Many (ok all) of our emails were about hunting.   He really missed not being able to hunt last fall.  He has already purchased a few dozen new goose decoys, a small enclosed trailer to haul them and a new SBE II.   I hope I can put him on some hot fields here in SW MN come Sept 4.  Time to start scouting for wheat fields or any early cut silage fields and getting land owner permission.   Start thinking about some target shooting and getting the dogs into some regular exercise.  Might even spend a couple days of September shooting my first doves.

My trail cams are out for some velvet bucks but only a few does/fawns on screen so far.  Wondering if MN will eventually allow cross bow deer hunting or scopes on my muzzle loader?   I grew up shooting right handed but later learned I was left eye dominant.  Just don't believe I can switch to being a left hand shooter at age 40.   I for one would appreciate the use of a scope for the muzzy season.  Don't know how great I'd be at trying to shoot a bow left handed either.  Those are my arguements for new laws.  I simply want to enjoy my hunt more!

Did get drawn for a 10 day SD duck license.  I've suffered through some slow duck hunts these past few years and would truly enjoy some mixed bag limits even if its across the state line.  MN continues to restore shallow lakes to try and turn things around.    More dirt work for MWA!  Keep up the good work chapters!  We can make a difference.  Lets get the ball rolling for those conservation partner grants.    See some of you July 31st delegates meeting.
