Opening day of the duck season is Sept. 23

The Minnesota DNR earlier this week posted the 2017 waterfowl-hunting regulations for Minnesota. As expected, there’s not much different from last year. The only major change, which doesn’t affect Minnesota hunters all that much, is the bag limit for pintails will drop to one per day, and the black duck bag limit will be two per day. Additionally, next year’s spring light goose conservation order will begin Feb. 15, which is a little earlier than it’s opened in the past.

In terms of seasons, the early September Canada goose season will run from Sept. 2-17. The regular goose season runs Sept. 23 through Dec. 22 in the North Zone, Sept. 23 through Oct. 1, and Oct. 7 to Dec. 27 in the Central Zone, and Sept. 23 through Oct. 1, and Oct. 14 through Jan. 3 in the South Zone.

The duck season in the North Zone is Sept. 23 through Nov. 21. It’s Sept. 23 through Oct. 1, and Oct. 7 through Nov. 26 in the Central Zone, and Sept. 23 through Oct. 1, and Oct. 14 through Dec. 3 in the South Zone.

Youth Waterfowl Day is Saturday, Sept. 9.
